Does Collagen Elixir use hydrolysed marine collagen or a collagen peptide?
Our marine collagen is both hydrolysed and a collagen peptide! What do we mean by hydrolysed? This is the process where large collagen molecules are broken down during a reaction with water into smaller molecules that are commonly referred to as ‘peptides’. Therefore, our Marine Collagen is also a collagen peptide.
What are the benefits of type I collagen?
Type I collagen is the building block of our skin’s structure, making up around 80% of our skin’s dermal layer. Most other animal collagen sourced from bovine, chicken or pork are often type II collagen, which is more suited to joints, but isn’t as effective as type I marine collagen when it comes to beauty-boosting benefits.
This is because marine collagen sourced from fish is up to 1.5 times more absorbent than bovine, porcine or chicken collagen due to its lower molecule weight, making it more bioavailable and more easily absorbed by the body.
