Isagenix is attracting many elite athletes and our most recent addition to our IsaAthletes, Anna Cleaver, has just proved why she’s one of the best in her sport.

With Isagenix as her fuel of choice, Anna competed in the  half Ironman 70.3 in Canberra on Sunday 16 December and placed 2nd! The course comprised of a 1.9km swim, 90km cycle and 21.1km run.

The result was an amazing acheivement for the New Zealander who has returned  from the USA to compete in the triathlon season for the summer.

Here’s how Anna prepared for race day with Isagenix…

“On Sunday I raced Canberra 70.3 (a half Ironman Distance event). This race takes a little over 4 hours and can often be in hot and humid conditions so nutrition plays a large role in success.

In the week leading up to the event I maintained my intake of  Product B and Ageless Actives. Product B contains a proprietary blend of antioxidants as well as Vitamins C, E and B12. Ageless Actives contains Co-enzyme Q10, essential to performance. In the 3 days leading up to the event I increase my dose of these supplements.

Given conditions were expected to be hot, I increased my fluid and salt intake in the few days leading into the race.

I believe in keeping things simple leading into an event. I am not a fan of overloading my body with carbohydrates as this is not how I have trained my body to perform in everyday life. Isagenix IsaLean shakes work for me, so I continued using these up until race day. My favourite way to have a shake is chocolate IsaLean shake + IsaPro + Ionix Supreme + a little coffee powder and maybe some almond butter, shaken over lots of ice. If I felt peckish the day before I would either have a shake or snack on Isagenix FibreSnacks!.

On race day I made sure I had a shake pre-prepared so that I just needed to add water and ice to get a recovery drink in. This is an essential part of the race as being a professional athlete, I need to keep in mind that after this race there is always another one, so having a protein full shake aids my body in recovery, therefore preparing for the next training block. You will always find water post events and the first aid tent has plenty of ice! Sometimes after over 4 hours of intense exercise you cannot stomach food for a while, however I find that I can take the shake with no problems.

Thanks Isagenix for your support and for making sure my nutrition needs are met in race week.”

Anna’s next race is in Auckland in the new year, with Isagenix as her secret weapon she’s sure to get another great result!
