Braving Extreme Conditions and Daunting Terrains

Joanna Sharpe Embarks on 46000km World Record Cycle to Raise Funds and Awareness for Bowel Cancer New Zealand

After suffering with a string of health conditions, including a bowel cancer scare and osteoperosis, Joanna was on a mission to rebuild her health and regain strength. Looking for low impact exercise options, Joanna began cycling. Despite her struggles, Joanna was determined to set an example, demonstrating that health struggles don’t have to be a barrier to achieving your goals.

After meeting fellow cyclist and health advocate, Britt, the pair worked together to raise awareness and funds for bowel cancer research through Bowel Cancer New Zealand. While Joanna’s bowel cancer was diagnosed early and successfully treated, Britt wasn’t as fortunate, losing her life to bowel cancer in 2020 after suffering undiagnosed for 6 years.

Carrying on the mission in Britt’s honour, Joanna became the first woman to cycle the length of New Zealand in just 6 days – over 2000kms – raising funds and awareness for bowel cancer research. From there, Joanna has achieved a number of indoor cycling world championship titles and even became the first person to cycle the breadth of New Zealand non-stop in 2023.

On 18 May, Joanna is kicking off her biggest journey yet. Fueled by Isagenix, Joanna has her sights set on conquering Australia’s harsh and unpredictable terrain with a 4600km cycle from Darwin to Melbourne.

“Sadly, my story isn’t the same for so many out there. Bowel cancer is on the rise in young people and is the second largest cancer killer but it is preventable.”

As an Isagenix customer for almost 9 years, Joanna’s journey will be fueled by her favourite Isagenix products.

“Isagenix helped me to get control of my health years ago and I use these products every single day.”
