In 2004, Isagenix® Millionaire, 7 Star Golden Circle and 7 Star Crystal Executive, Ellen G. and her husband Paul, took their then two year old son Tyler to the doctor because he was easily bruising. They thought he might have a vitamin deficiency.

What they never anticipated was for their son to be diagnosed with Aplastic anemia, a rare, life threatening blood disorder. “None of Tyler’s cell lines were working,” shares Ellen. “He had no red cells. He had no white cells. He had no platelets. He had no protection from infection and if you touched him he could bleed to death.”

As a result, Tyler was admitted to the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and Ellen stepped away from everything, leaving her Isagenix business in the hands of her team and focused solely on her son.

“It’s a very hard place to be,” admits Ellen. “You never know which friends are going to wake up with you.”

For the next year, Tyler lived on the fourth floor with a PICC line (or peripherally inserted central catheter) to his heart, undergoing painful surgeries eating hospital food. “It was during that time we were given the opportunity to have a wish granted by Make-A-Wish®, but we were so rooted in Tyler getting better that we thought that gift should go to another family that was ready to embrace that moment,” share Ellen and Paul.

A few months later, Tyler’s team of doctors decided it was safe for him to receive outpatient treatment. For the next two years, Tyler would receive routine chemotherapy treatments in a grueling effort to get better. And it worked!

Thanks to the power of residual income, Ellen and her family were able to stay by Tyler’s side through his entire hospital stay. Today, Tyler is a happy, active 10 year old with dreams of becoming a professional baseball player. He’s also a working actor, singer and musician who continues to get yearly blood work to monitor his health.

Tyler and his family raise funds in their town for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and Make-A-Wish. Tyler and his sister, Spencer, are currently raising funds with other Isagenix kids in the hopes of delivering a giant cheque to Make-A-Wish at the 2013 ‘Live Out Loud’ Celebration in Las Vegas.
