What a beautiful and inspiring start to Day 2 at Summer Kick Off, where wishes come true!
As the Isagenix® Make-A-Wish® Ambassador, Suzanne Skillen introduced Make-A-Wish recipient Gia to the stage.
Gia: Leukaemia survivor
“I am a Leukaemia survivor,” said Gia. “But before I was a survivor, I was a Leukaemia patient at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Brisbane and had been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia when I was 2 years old. When I turned 4, volunteers from Make-A-Wish came to visit me. I wished for a brown pony, in fact, a brown pony with a white face!”
Gia’s wish was granted soon after and the best thing was that the pony was hers to keep! “Cody, my pony, loves carrots and apples and me! He will always be my special mate,” says Gia.
“I remember much more about Cody than I remember about hospitals and treatment, that’s for sure! Wishes like Cody really are the best wishes. I hope every child gets to make and receive their wish – that’s my wish today.”
Painting Auction raises $23,000 for Make-A-Wish!
At Friday night’s Carnival of Colours Party, performance artist Sarah Rowan Dahl painted three artworks that were auctioned this morning. The money raised will grant more wishes for children like Gia.
Sarah’s paintings are infused with energy with each one reflecting a special theme. All three were snapped up within five minutes, raising an outstanding $23,000 that will go toward granting more wishes for children facing serious medical issues. Associates also generously contributed as donation buckets were passed around – a huge ‘Thank you!’ to our generous supporters!
- ‘Dandelions’ symbolises the wish – sold for $8,000 to Brett Davis and Samantha Gascoigne, Isagenix Millionaires and 10 Star Platinum, 11 Star Crystal Executive
- ‘Poppies’ incorporates heart-shaped poppies to represent overcoming ‘tall-poppy syndrome’, reminding us that we are all #one team – sold for $10,000 to Jen and Jono Patch, Isagenix Millionaires and 12 Star Platinum, 13 Star Crystal Executive
- ‘Being Brave’ was a personal challenge for Sarah. This is her first abstract painting – inspired by and Associate to try something different – and represents being brave and doing something that scares you every day – sold for $5,500 to Helen Koi, Isagenix Millionaire and 8 Star Platinum, 1 Star Executive
A life of contribution
Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of seriously ill children and teenagers, giving them hope for the future, strength to face the challenges of their illness and joy from their incredible wish experience.
Isagenix Associates and Corporate Team from across the world have raised over $3 million for children faced with life-threatening illnesses, allowing them to dream again. That’s over 426 wishes granted!
“Just imagine what we can do,” says Suzanne. “When spider webs unite, they can tie up a lion! Whether you pledge a few dollars or thousands, we thank you!”
Thank you to everyone for your generous hearts and passion to make a difference for families who are looking for hope. It’s incredible what can happen when we all come together! Make-A-Wish is thrilled to have the support of Isagenix who have helped make incredible wishes come true, like those of Gia.
As Gia says, “There’s magic in these wishes and you can never have too much magic in your life!”
